Tall Skinny Kiwi has pictures of five Christian t-shirts which are totally depraved (including one that only became Christian when it attended a Christian festival). What’s with these appalling theists? Good heavens.
No sooner do we begin to post under the banner of the great radical Reformer, Conrad Grebel, but some copycat site has adopted the obviously pseudepigraphic moniker, “Jim West” and is posting great calumnies about our beloved patron. Readers should be aware that this Jim West is a charlatan and a fraud, who has been exposed as Geoff Hudson.
Totally depraved. Just look at this photo of this young man, to be utterly convinced of his nefarious intent:
Jon Stewart is once again on fire, on The Daily Show (September 8, 2010) – exposing the total depravity that leads Christians to burn Qur’ans and Jews to ejaculate into dinner meats. When will all this madness stop?
Watch the show here (7:10).
Doug Chaplin sends out a warning about The Evangelical Exegetical Commentary (EEC), a new 44-volume biblical commentary series on the whole Bible, available through Logos in 2011:
“I googled the author of the proposed volume on Genesis – a William Barrick of whom I’d never otherwise heard – to see what we might expect as “rigorous critical scholarship”. On his website he offers a number of links to creation studies and research. Sadly they are all to creationists weirder ramblings, beginning with Answers in Genesis.”
So avoid these like the series of Egyptian plagues (which no doubt the EEC will defend as historically plausible)!
New Testament scholar, Mark Goodacre shares this video about “The Adventures of Little Jesus.” It is an animation based on the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, chapter 9.
There are a number of these accounts of what Jesus did when he was a young boy, imaginative attempts to fill the gaps in the (also imaginative) Gospel accounts of Jesus’ adult life.
Avowed theist nutjob, Terry Jones of Florida is promising to burn hundreds of copies of the Qur’an on September 11, to mark the anniversary of the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon by other theist nutjobs.
Terry Jones’ depraved theist organization, the Dove World Outreach Center (DWOC) has its own “Academy Rulebook,” in which you can find these totally depraved theist rules:
- Students are banned from telephoning or speaking to their family: “no phone calls.”
- “In order to obey God, we are to leave the family behind!”
- Under the instructions for “clothe and sanity [sic],” students are instructed: “Wash and shower at least once a day, but not more than 2 a day.”
- Students are instructed where to clean themselves: “Mouth, sweat areas, hair, feet hands [sic]”
Theism: total depravity!!
Today is the 112th birthday of Norman Porteous, who lived until the ripe old age of 104! Norman Porteous was an Old Testament scholar, and wrote a good commentary on the book of Daniel.
